Lodha Foundation India Study Scholarships
Program Benefits
1. Trust will pay 75% of the school fees of the students, subject to a maximum of Rs. 18,000 per year / 1,500 per month. Fee will be paid directly to the school on a quarterly basis.
2. Students who get 80% or higher marks (weighted average of all school-level exams held during the year) will receive an additional stipend of Rs. 3,000 per year for use towards their intellectual growth.
Eligibility and application process
1. Students who is studying in a school located in MMR region (MMR) (including Mumbai, Thane, Mira Bhayandar, Kalyan Dombivali, Vasai-Virar, Navi Mumbai)
2. Eligibility: Students belonging to families whose annual household income is less than Rs. 4,50,000 per annum .
3. Selection shall be made on basis of merit and financial need, as per the sole decision of the Governing body.
4. Over 1000 scholarships shall be awarded each year with 25% earmarked for families of government employees.
5. Only Indian nationals are eligible to apply for this program.
6. Students already availing of any other scholarship are not eligible for this program.
7. Decision on award will be notified by email or phone by 15th June2014 (for those writing their 10th standard exam 15th July2014)
8. To maintain eligibility for next academic year, students have to obtain min. 70% in their school exams (weighted average of all school-level exams held during the year).
9. Fresh application is required to be made after 3 consecutive academic years of receiving the program benefits.
10. Only one child per family will be eligible for this scholarship.

In order to reach this potential, it will require huge efforts in all fields and this can only be sustained if the high quality brain power of our country sees India as a place where they want to contribute and use their global experience to take India forward.
In order to facilitate foreign education for meritorious students with financial need and encourage them to contribute to India, Lodha Foundation has instituted the ?Lodha Foundation International Study Scholarships? from 2013.
Each year, upto 3 meritorious students will be given a scholarship equal to 80% of their cost of education at any institute ranked amongst the Top 100 globally (as per well recognized global rankings). These scholarships can be used to support under-graduate, post-graduate or Doctoral programs. All applications will be reviewed by an independent committee of eminent professionals who will decide the recipients based on a combination of demonstrated financial need and educational merit.
Taking cognizance of the significant role played by public officials in strengthening the future of our country, preference will be given to candidates whose parent(s) are in government service.
Program Benefits:
a. Upto 80% of the annual cost of program (all institution fees*) shall be paid by the Lodha Foundation scholarships.
b. Each recipient will be given a scholarship for 2 academic years (recipient can apply as a fresh candidate thereafter).
Other terms of the Scholarship:
a. The amount shall be paid directly to the institution at the start of each term (semester/quarter).
b. Recipient will need to maintain an academic performance better than 80th percentile of his/her class for the continuance of the scholarships. If percentile proof is not available from the institution, GPA of 3.2 or higher (on scale of 4) is required to be maintained. GPA (/equivalent) proof will need to be submitted at end of each term.
c. The recipient will have to give an undertaking that they will return to India for a minimum of 3 years within 10 years after completion of their education. In the event that they choose not to return, they can repay the scholarship in the currency it was paid in to the concerned institution within of 10 years from the date of start of the scholarship with nominal interest @ 5% p.a. so that the funds can be used to benefit other students.
d. Applicant should not be availing any other scholarship during the tenure of this scholarship.
Application decision by independent panel
All applications shall be considered by a panel of 3 eminent professionals and social workers, who shall consider each application independently based on the criteria specified herein below. The members of the panel shall be informed at the time of opening of the application process. Any efforts to influence the members of the panel shall make the candidate ineligible for consideration.
Criteria for choosing recipients:
a. Applications shall be considered from any student who is to appear for his Std XII from a school/junior college in the State of Maharashtra or is in the final year of under-graduate course at an institute/ university in the State of Maharashtra.
b. The key criteria for selection would be:
a. Demonstrated excellence in academics
b. Proof of leadership / commitment to community.
c. Financial need viz. annual income of family (last 3 years) is <= 2 times of the program?s annual costs viz. institution fees + living/housing expenses + books.
d. Admission to institution ranked amongst Top 100 in the world (as per reputed rankings).
The weight-age used for each criteria and the decision to award the scholarship would be at the sole discretion of the panel.
c. Preference will be given to candidates whose parent(s) are in government service for => 10 years.
Documents required with application:
a. Undertaking of return to India and if not, repayment of scholarship with interest @ 5% p.a. (in currency in which fee is paid) within 10 years from start of scholarship.
b. Admission letter to institution ranked amongst Top 100 in the world (as per reputed ranking).
c. An essay of no more than 1000 words on 'how you intend to contribute to India after your education'.
d. Mark sheets of Std VII, IX, X, XI and XII (as and when it becomes available).
e. Salary certificate or copy of income-tax assessment order of the parents.
f. Letters of recommendations given to the applicant by two individuals of stature.
g. All copies submitted with the application Form should be certified as true copies by a Gazetted Officer or head of any recognized College or Institution in which the applicant is studying or has studied.
Application Procedure:
- Applications for loan scholarships are invited by the Lodha Foundation from 1st March each year and the last date for receiving applications will be 31st May.
- The application form will be made available at the website of the Lodha Foundation (http://www.lodha-foundation.org/)
- Each application must also be enclosed with copies of above documents.
- Shortlisted applicants may be asked for further details and may be called for an interview.
- Only successful applicants will be informed of the scholarship, and no intimation will be given to unsuccessful applicants.
- Decision on the award will be intimated by email or phone by 30th June each year.
